The CIA provided a surplus C-123KTail #663 for a covert mission flown by Eugene Hasenfus. Downed by a shoulder-held SA-7 missle but Hasenfus jumped out okay and was captured. The event exposed the guts of the Iran-Contra Affair, a major part of late 20th century US history. Locals looted what was interesting, but eventually somebody chopped up the bird, transported by barge and truck to a seaside resort where it now no longer has a 12-hour bottle-to-throttle rule!
